- To foster good relations between nations based on the idea of equal rights and individual self-determination.
- To foster international collaboration in the resolution of international economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian issues, as well as to promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
- To serve as a focal point for coordinating national efforts to achieve these common goals.
- The UN has defined three new objectives: disarmament, decolonisation, and development.
- In order to achieve the purposes for which UNO was created, members must adopt the following principles:
- To uphold the sovereign equality of all members.
- All members should carry out their commitments in good faith.
- They should resolve international conflicts in peaceful ways.
- They would refrain from threatening or using force against any state.
- They should fully support the United Nations in any action it takes.
- The organisation should guarantee that states that are not United Nations members follow these principles.
- The United Nations shall not intervene in any state's domestic or internal affairs.
