Any four executive powers

Answer in Brief

Solution

Four executive powers of the President of India are:

  1. Head of the Union Executive: All executive orders are issued in the name of the President. All the Union Officials are his subordinates.
  2. Formation of the Council of Ministers: According to the Constitution, the President appoints the Prime Minister and, on the Prime Minister's recommendation, the President appoints the other Ministers. All Council of Ministers decisions must be reported to the President by the Prime Minister.
  3. Administration of Union Territories: According to the Constitution, the President is responsible for overseeing each Union Territory. An Administrator with a designation that the President may designate carries out the President's actions.
  4. Control over State Governments: A State may receive necessary directives from the Union Government. The Union Government has total control over the States while the President is in office.
