The roof water harvesting structures include the following parts:

  1. Catchment or the surface which receives the rainfall. It is the terrace or the sloping roof of the houses or buildings.
  2. Conduits are the pipelines or drains that carry rainwater from the catchment to the harvesting or storage systems e.g., PVC, asbestos, galvanised iron, etc.
  3. Storage containers like RCC, masonry or plastic tanks.
  4. Recharging structures like the dug wells or bore wells, recharge trenches where the water percolates.
