Working:
- The specified source of electromotive force, such as alternating current mains, is consistently linked to the primary coil.
- Alternating current travels through the primary coil, magnetising the core once in one direction and once in the other way.
- Hence, an alternating magnetic flux is produced in the core.
- The magnetic flux flowing through the secondary coil, which is likewise wound on the same core, fluctuates constantly as a result of the core's frequent magnetisation and demagnetisation.
- Therefore, by mutual induction, an alternating electromotive force of identical frequency is induced in the secondary coil.
