Why are mitochondria called the powerhouse of the cell?
Solution
Mitochondria are the sites of respiration in the cell. Mitochondria forms energy in the form of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) during the process of respiration. Therefore, they are called the powerhouse of the cell.
