Write a short note on Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.

1. The centre was established in 1954 by renowned scientist Homi J. Bhabha and has contributed valuable research in the fields of nuclear physics, solid-state physics, spectroscopy, chemical and life sciences.
2. It also has a dedicated school for training scientists in setting up nuclear reactors. The main role of BARC is to reduce the use of carbon in the power sector of India.
3. BARC also conducts other research that include Biotechnology and is successful in developing various high yielding crop varieties and also disease resistant crop varieties. After the demise of Bhabha in 1966, AEET was renamed Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
