(a) Besides the mainland of India, the Indian territory includes some islands, the most prominent being the Lakshadweep located in the Arabian Sea and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands located in the Bay of Bengal.
(b) The seas around these islands being rich in marine life, fishing is the main livelihood of the islanders.
(c) A huge variety of fish is available in the lagoons of Lakshadweep. Plenty of tuna, sharks, crabs, shrimps, lobsters, etc. are found around the Lakshadweep Sea.
(d) Thus, tuna fish and fish products are exported from these islands.
(e) Fisheries have developed on a large scale around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Fishing is one of the main occupations of the tribal people who were the original inhabitants of these islands.
