3. These plants have been biofortified to have a high vitamin A content.
4. The golden hue is caused by beta carotene, a vitamin A precursor.
5. Golden rice and golden mustard consumption can minimise the onset of vitamin A deficiency illnesses (VAD) (night blindness).
