Lumbering activity.

Human activities are the most important part in the development of region. They are divided into three types: (a) Primary economic activity (b) Secondary economic activity (c) Tertiary economic activity. Hunting, Gathering, Animal husbandry, Agriculture fishing, lumbering, mining etc. are primary activities. All these activities are dependent on nature. Amongst all other activities going on in the forest, lumbering is one of the most important activities. According to the nature of vegetation, earth is divided into various natural regions.

1. Hardwood is found in the trees of the tropical forest. Furthermore, since these forests are evergreen, commercial lumbering is not permitted there.
2. Monsoon or tropical deciduous forests are not very dense. These forests are near agricultural lands and densely populated, they have been deforested on a large scale.
3. In the coniferous fores_ts only one species of trees is found in an area. These trees grow tall. That is why in the world, lumbering activity is mostly practised in coniferous regions.
4. Wood is used on a very large scale for various purposes, hence the percentage of forests is decreasing. As a result, hazards related to the environment are occurring.
