Child abuse

1. Child abuse: Child abuse is physical, sexual and/or psychological maltreatment or neglect of child especially by care giver or a parent which results in potential harm to a child. It can occur in various forms.
2. Physical abuse: This includes striking, kicking, burning, biting, hair pulling, choking, throwing, shoving, whipping or any other action that injures a child. Even if the parent or caregiver did not mean to cause injury, if the child is injured, then it is considered abuse.
3. Sexual abuse: When an adult uses a child for sexual activities or involves a child in sexual acts, it is considered abuse. It may also include an older child who may be a bully, using a weaker child for sexual gratification or excitement.
4. Emotional abuse: by rejecting or ignoring and not letting the child express themselves, telling them that they are unwanted or unloved. Shaming, terrorising them or demeaning them also comes under abuse.
