Hunting, Gathering, lumbering, fishing, Animal husbandry, mining, and agriculture are important primary economic activities of man. All these are totally dependent on the nature. To fulfil the needs of population, to provide technical help to man power etc. mechanization was started in primary activities.

Fishing: There are many physical and human factors that impact development of fishing as a primary activity in certain areas of the world. Though it started as a subsistence level activity, fishing is now one of the major primary economic activities especially in coastal areas. Some of the factors are as follows:

4. Use of technology has increased fishing activity.
5. Excellent portal facilities are provided by the broken coastline.
6. Cold climate in temperate regions facilities preservation of fish. In tropical countries, artificial refrigeration facilities have to be developed.
7. The nearby forest provides wood for ship building. Grand bank of North east America and Doggers bank of west Europe are the well-known fishing grounds in the world.
