Instructions for Making a Paper Pinwheel

Materials needed:

• A square piece of paper
• A pencil with an eraser
• A push pin or thumbtack
• A pair of scissors

Steps:

• Take a square piece of paper.
• Fold it diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner, then unfold it.
• Fold it diagonally in the opposite direction and unfold it again. You should now see an “X” crease in the middle.
• Cut along the crease lines toward the center, stopping about 1 inch before the middle.
• Take one corner of each section and fold it toward the center, skipping every alternate section.
• Join all the folded corners in the middle using a push pin.
• Attach the push pin to the eraser end of the pencil, allowing the pinwheel to spin.
• Hold the pencil and blow gently on the pinwheel to make it spin!
• Your paper pinwheel is ready.
