  1. Regional development is the development of all the regions simultaneously, raising their per capita income and living standards by fully exploiting their natural and human resources. 
  2. Different regions vary in their size, population and resources. e.g. desert regions might have fewer resources while forested regions have huge resources. 
  3. The development of a region is a function of its resources and population. In order to achieve holistic development, skilled human resources and optimum utilisation of natural resources is essential.
  4. The analysis of developed and undeveloped regions reveals that the difference in development levels is related to the difference in the percentage of land use.
  5. In short, factors like climate and relief, population, land use and economic activities together influence regional development.
