1. In 1899, with the initiative of Ganesh Damodar Savarkar and his brother Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, ‘Mitra Mela’ a secret organisation was established at Nasik.
2. The same organisation was renamed in 1904 as ‘Abhinav Bharat’.
3. The British government came to know of the activities of ‘Abhinav Bharat’. Ganesh Damodar Savarkar was arrested by the British Government.
4. Jackson, the British collector punished him with life sentence. Anant Lakshman Kanhere a young Indian revolutionary killed Jackson to avenge the punishment given to Ganesh Damodar Savarkar.
5. The government held Vinayak Damodar Savarkar for Jackson’s murder. He was arrested and had to face a trial in the court.
6. He was declared guilty and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 50 years at Andaman.
