One-third of x multiplied by the sum of a and b

Sum

Solution

One third of x is \[\frac{x}{3}\].
The sum of a and b is (a+b).
∴ One-third of x multiplied by the sum of a and b = \[\frac{x}{3} \times (a + b) = \frac{x(a + b)}{3}\]
