In a society tom with humiliation and inSult, humour is like a breath of fresh air. Humour should be coupled with care and concern. Humour can keep the spirit high, yet if overdone, it leaves a bad taste. Humour without wisdom is shallow. |

Humour as medicine
As a youngster, you are blessed with some naughtiness. Keep it going. All difficult situations may be made more bearable by using humour. A person with a sense of humour can sail through any disagreement. Humour acts as a buffer, protecting you from humiliation. Humour draws people together, whilst shame drives people apart. Humor is a breath of fresh air in a culture riddled with humiliation and insult. Humor should be combined with compassion and care. Humour may lift one's spirits, but too much of it can leave a foul taste. Without intelligence, humour is superficial. Satire is humour without empathy; it returns to you with additional difficulties. The wise use comedy to impart wisdom and to lighten the mood. To offend others, the wise use comedy as a weapon. Irresponsible people use humour to avoid responsibilities. And fools take their comedy far too seriously!
What are some ways to develop a sense of humour? Humor is more than just words; it's the carefree nature of your existence. No need to read and recite jokes. Humor can be developed by not taking life too seriously (because you won't make it out alive), feeling a connection to everyone, even those who aren't friendly, practicing yoga and meditation, having unwavering faith in the Divine and in the laws of Karma, and hanging out with people who are wise and funny.
