Protozoa:

Protozoans live in various environments like soil, fresh water, and sea water. Some also live inside the bodies of other organisms and can cause diseases. They are single-celled organisms with complex, eukaryotic cells (cells that have a nucleus). size: approximately 200 mm. There is a wide variety in their cell structures, the ways they move, and how they get their food. Some move with the help of hair-like structures, while others use whip-like tails or other methods. Protozoa reproduce simply by dividing into two cells, a process called cell division.

For example,

  • Amoeba, Paramecium: Free-living in dirty water.
  • Entamoeba histolytica: causes amoebiasis.
  • Plasmodium vivax: Causes malaria (spread by mosquitoes)
  • Euglena: Autotrophic, makes food using sunlight.
