विकल्प
addition of rational numbers is commutative.
rational numbers are closed under addition.
addition of rational number is associative.
rational numbers are distributive under addition.
उत्तर
`- 3/8 + 1/7 = 1/7 + ((-3)/8)` is an example to show that addition of rational numbers is commutative.
Explanation:
Given, `(-3)/8 + 1/7 = 1/7 + ((-3)/8)`
Let two rational numbers,
a = `(-3)/8`, b = `1/7`
∴ a + b = `(-3)/8 + 1/7`
= `(-21 + 8)/56`
= `(-13)/56`
And b + a = `1/7 + (-3)/8`
= `(8 - 21)/56`
= `(-13)/56`
Clearly, a + b = b + a
So, addition is communication for rational numbers.
