When the square loop is crushed into an irregular shape, the area enclosed by the loop decreases, reducing the magnetic flux through the loop. According to Lenz's Law, the induced current flows in a direction to oppose this decrease in flux. To maintain the flux directed into the paper, the induced current flows clockwise in the loop.
