E.L. Thorndike coined the phrase social intelligence. The multiple intelligence theory, developed by Howard Gardner, includes interpersonal intelligence.
According to Karl Albrecht, 'Social intelligence is the capacity to get along with others and persuade them to work with you. A consistent pattern of nurturing behaviour suggests excellent social intelligence. Such people are adept at engaging with and understanding those around them. They respect and encourage others. They have a clear understanding of social dynamics.
