प्रश्न
Answer the following question.
State two reasons to explain why irrigation is necessary for India.
उत्तर
Irrigation is necessary for India because of :
- Uneven distribution of rainfall. Rainfall is confined to the short duration of 3-4 months in the rainy season. The rest of the year is more or less dry. The provision of irrigation can make multiple cropping possible.
- High yielding variety of crops require regular moisture to increase farm production-Crops like rice, jute, sugarcane require large amounts of water, which can be met only through irrigation.
