प्रश्न
Anurag went to a shop to buy a leather coat costing Rs 2,654. The sales tax on it is 9%. He requested the shopkeeper to reduce the price to such an extent that he has to pay only Rs 2,616 including the sales tax. Find the reduction given by the shopkeeper.
उत्तर
Let the reduced price be x
Rate of sales tax = 9 %
Therefore, total amount of the coat
= x + 9 % of x = `1 + 9/100 "x" = (109 "x")/100`
But the total amount of the coat to be paid = Rs 2,616
Therefore, reduced price=
⇒ `(109 "x")/100` = Rs 2616
⇒ x = Rs `261600/109`
⇒ x = Rs 2400
Reduction needed =Rs (2,654-2,400) =Rs 254
