प्रश्न
Denominator of a number is 4 less than its numerator. If 6 is added to the numerator it becomes thrice the denominator. Find the fraction.
उत्तर
Let the numerator of the number be x.
Then, denominator of the number = x – 4
∴ Fraction = `x/(x - 4)` ...(i)
According to the question,
If 6 is added to numerator, it becomes thrice the denominator.
∴ x + 6 = 3(x – 4)
⇒ 3x – 12 = x + 6
⇒ 3x – x = 6 + 12
⇒ 2x = 18
⇒ x = `18/2`
∴ x = 9
Hence, fraction = `x/(x - 4)`
= `9/(9 - 4)`
= `9/5`
