Differentiate between short pass and long pass in football.

The ball is passed for short distance. To make a short pass, turn the foot you are going to make the pass with outwards and lock the ankle, so it is strong on contact with the ball.
The long pass is used to clear the ball to the opposite side of the field to a teammate who is open and has no defenders around him.
