प्रश्न

Discuss the impact of land reforms during the colonial period.

संक्षेप में उत्तर

उत्तर

The land reforms gave the Zamindars more control over the land and with heavier taxes, Zamindars extracted a huge amount of produce and money from the cultivators. The raiyatwari system of land settlement was introduced with the British rule where they directly ruled and actual cultivators were responsible for paying the taxes. Since there were no overlords, the taxes were less. The cultivators also gained more incentive to invent in agriculture. These areas hence, prospered at a faster rate.
