प्रश्न

Distinguish between:

Combustion & Rusting with suitable word equations only?

अंतर स्पष्ट करें

उत्तर

Combustion:

  1. It is confined to a variety of materials.
  2. Oxygen is required.
  3. Moisture is not essential.
  4. Oxide of carbon and hydrogen formed.
  5. Heat is evolved at a rapid rate and cause sudden rise in temperature.

Rusting:

  1. It is confined only to iron.
  2. Oxygen is required
  3. Moisture is essential.
  4. Oxide of iron formed.
  5. Heat is evolved at a slow rate and cause slight rise in temperature.

The equation formed in Combustion is

Hydrocarbon  +  Oxygen  →   Carbon Dioxide  +  Water Vapour.

CxHy   +    O2   →    CO2   +   H2O

The equation formed in Rusting is Iron + Oxygen →Iron [III] oxide Rust Hydrated iron(III) oxide

\[\ce{4Fe + 3O2-> 2Fe2O3 ->[x H2O][moisture] Fe2O3.xH2O}\]
