उत्तर

The activity of ions across a semipermeable membrane and under an electronic gradient is called chemiosmotic movement. In ATP synthesis during light reaction of photosynthesis, movement of ions takes place across the thylakoid membrane which is a semi-permeable membrane. Moreover, ions are pumped by a proton pump utilizing a proton gradient; and eventually, ATP is synthesized. Due to these characteristics, ATP synthesis during the light reaction is called a chemiosmotic phenomenon.
