प्रश्न
Explain the effect of pressure on solubility.
टिप्पणी लिखिए
उत्तर
- The change in pressure does not have any significant effect on the solubility of solids and liquids as they are not compressible. However, the solubility of gases generally increases with the increase in pressure.
- According to Le – chatter’s principle, the increase in pressure will shift the equilibrium in the direction which will reduce the pressure. Therefore, more gaseous molecules dissolve in the solvent.
- If pressure increases, the solubility of gas also increases.
