प्रश्न

For a gaseous homogeneous reaction at equilibrium, a number of moles of products is greater than the number of moles of reactants. Is KC is larger or smaller than Kp?

संख्यात्मक

उत्तर

For a homogeneous reaction at equilibrium, number of moles of products (np) are greater than the number of moles of reactants (nR) then

∆ng = + ve

np > nR

∆ng = + ve

If ∆ng is ve, Kp value is greater than KC

Kp = KC. (RT)+ve

Kp > KC

Example: \[\ce{PCl5 <=> PCl3(g) + Cl2(g)}\]

2 – 1 = 1

Kp = KC (RT)1

Kp > KC
