प्रश्न

Give evidence that [Co(NH3)5Cl]SO4 and [Co(NH3)5SO4]Cl are ionization isomers.

लघु उत्तरीय

उत्तर

Ionization isomers dissolve in water to give different ions, hence giving different reactions with different reagents.

\[\ce{[Co(NH3)5Cl]SO4 + Ba^{2+} -> BaSO4_{(s)}}\]

\[\ce{[Co(NH3)5SO4]Cl + Ba^{2+} -> {No Reaction}}\]

\[\ce{[Co(NH3)5Cl]SO4 + Ag^+ -> {No Reaction}}\]

\[\ce{[Co(NH3)5SO4]Cl + Ag^+ -> AgCl_{(s)}}\]

Since the given complexes give different reactions with different reagents, hence they are ionization isomers.
