When carbon is heated with concentrated sulphuric acid, carbon dioxide is formed.

Hot concentrated sulphuric acid act as a powerful oxidizing agent. Due to heat it decomposes to form nascent oxygen which helps in oxidation of carbon to carbon dioxide.
