प्रश्न
How did Evans manage to smear himself with blood? What effect did it have on the officers?
उत्तर
McLeery, the invigilator, was the one who procured the blood for Evans. The rubber-ring that McLeery had with him in his briefcase was used to bring it in. To prevent clotting, human blood and pig blood were combined. Evans smeared this blood on his face. The police were unable to recognise him as Evans when blood was gushing from his skull. They mistook him for McLeery, who was hurt. Then he volunteered to help find Evans after he had fled. Evans succeeded in tricking and confusing the police as a result, which aided him in his final scapegoat.
