How is the Security Council formed?

The Security Council consists of five permanent members: China, France, Russia, Britain and the United States of America, and ten non-permanent members, who are elected by the General Assembly by two-third of majority, for a term of two years. A retiring member is not eligible for immediate re-election. In all, the Security Council thus consists of 15 members.
