उत्तर

Given m(x - 1) = 40 ⇒ x - 1 = `(40)/"m"`

`(x - 1)/(2) = 1 + (x + 1)/(3)`

`(x - 1)/(2) = 1 + (x -1 + 1 + 1)/(3)`  ....(Adding and subtracting 1 in the R.H.S.)

⇒ `((40/"m"))/(2) = 1 + ((40/"m") + 2)/(3)`

⇒ `(40)/(2"m") = 1 + (40 + 2"m")/("m"/(3)`

⇒ `(40)/(2"m") = 1 + (40 + 2"m")/(3"m")`

⇒ `(40)/(2"m") = (3"m" + 40 + 2"m")/(3)`

⇒ `(40)/(2"m") = (5"m" + 40)/(3"m")`

⇒ 40(3m) = 2m(5m + 40)
⇒ 120m = 10m2 + 80m
⇒ 10m2 + 80m - 120m = 0
⇒ 10m2 = 40m
⇒ m = 4.
