योग

उत्तर

Let m1 and m2 be the slopes of the lines given by ax2 + 2hxy + by2 = 0

∴ m1 + m2 = -2hb

and m1m2 = ab

We are given that m2 = 4m1

∴ m1 + 4m1 = -2hb

∴ 5m1 = -2hb

∴ m1 = -2h5b    .....(1)

Also, m1(4m1) = ab

4m12=ab

m12=a4b

(- 2h5b)2=a4b     ...[By(1)]

4h225b2=a4b

4h225b=a4, as b ≠ 0

∴ 16h2 = 25ab

This is the required condition.
