प्रश्न
Imagine you are a potter making water pitchers. List the difficulties that you are facing in the second half of the 19th century.
उत्तर
The British's economic exploitation made my life as a potter extremely tough in the second half of the nineteenth century. Some of the issues I encountered were:
- British rule had a negative impact on Indian handicrafts. Heavy tariffs were placed on products exported from India to England. The cheaper machine-made products, on the other hand, were nearly duty-free when imported from Britain. This forced me into unemployment.
- The loss of my traditional supporters and buyers, the princes, chieftains, and zamindars, drove me deeper into poverty.
- As a result of British economic policy, India became a supplier of raw materials to British companies as well as a market for finished goods. This decimated artisans and craftsmen like me.
