  1. Labels for Horizontal Lines: These are called latitudes (e.g., Equator, Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn).
  2. Labels for Vertical Lines: These are called longitudes (e.g., Prime Meridian, International Date Line). 

Similarities:

  • Both are imaginary lines used for navigation and to locate places on the Earth.
  • Both are measured in degrees.

Differences:

  • Latitudes run parallel to each other, whereas longitudes converge at the poles.
  • Latitudes measure north-south positions, while longitudes measure east-west positions.
