प्रश्न
State the meaning of organic farming. Discuss how does it help in promoting sustainable development.
उत्तर
Organic Farming:
It is a farming system that relies on organic inputs for cultivation. It does not use chemical inputs.
It promotes sustainable development in the following ways:
- Use of organic resources: Organic farming does not utilize petroleum-based synthetic chemicals or fertilizers. It instead makes use of manures and compost made from fruit and vegetable waste, which are not harmful to the environment.
- Eco-friendly: It is environmentally friendly because it contains no hazardous chemicals that affect the land and water. Healthy soil and water will be available to future generations as well.
- Sustains soil fertility: Soil fertility is maintained by the use of animal manures and compost. It feeds the land for future generations. This is not the case with chemical-based farming.
