उत्तर

Ammonia is a highly toxic substance and there is a need for plenty of water to remove ammonia from the body. In aquatic habitats, the availability of water is not a problem. Hence, aquatic animals are usually ammonotelic i.e. ammonia excreting animals. But the availability of water is an issue in terrestrial habitats. Hence, terrestrial animals do not show ammonotelism but rather show ureotelism or uricotelism habit.
