प्रश्न
Two numbers are in the ratio 11:13. If the smaller number is 286, find the bigger one.
उत्तर
Let the two numbers be x and y
Then, x : y = 11 : 13
The smaller number =
`(11)/(11 + 13) "of" (x + y)` = 286 ...(Given)
⇒ `(11)/(24) xx (x + y)` = 286
⇒ (x + y)
= `(286 xx 24)/(11)`
= 624
The bigger number =
`(13)/(11 + 13) "of" (624)`
⇒ `(13)/(24) xx (624)` = 338.
