  Direct development Indirect development
i. Younger people could look like adults. The larvae, or tiny hatchlings, in this case do not resemble the adults.
ii. There are no intermediate phases. There are stages in between.
iii. No metamorphosis occurs. Transformation is observed in indirect development.
