1) the acceleration acquired by the truck and

2) the force applied

Mass of truck = 5000 kg

Initial velocity, u = 0 m/s

Distance, s = 0.5 km = 500 m

Time, t = 10 s

1) From equation : 

`S = ut + 1/2 at^2`

`500 = 0 xx 10 + 1/2 a xx (10)^2`

500 = 50a

a = 500/50 = 10 ms^-2

2) Force =  mass x acceleration

`F = 5000 xx 10 = 5 xx 10^4 N`
