Amisha has a square plot of side m and another triangular plot with base and height each equal to m. What is the total area of both plots?

Given, Side of square plot = m and height and base of triangular plot = m

∵ Area of square plot = m²  ......[∵ Area of square = (side)²]

∴ Area of triangular plot = ${\displaystyle \frac{1}{2}\times m\times m=\frac{m^2}{2}}$  ......${\displaystyle [\because \text{Area of triangle}=\frac{1}{2}\times \text{height}\times \text{base}]}$

∴ Total of both plots = Area of square plot + Area of triangular plot

= ${\displaystyle m^2+\frac{m^2}{2}}$

= ${\displaystyle \frac{2m^2+m^2}{2}}$ ......[Taking LCM of 1 and 2 is 2]

= ${\displaystyle \frac{3m^2}{2}}$
