उत्तर

Aqueous copper sulphate solution exists as [Cu(H2O)4]SO4 and is blue in colour due to [Cu(H2O)4]2+ ions.

When KF solution is added, the weak H2O ligands are replaced by strong F-ligands. Thus, [CuF4]2− ions are formed, which give green precipitate.

\[\ce{[Cu(H2O)4]^2+ + \underset{[From KF_{( aq)}]}{4F-} -> \underset{(Green ppt.)}{[CuF4]^2-} + 4H2O}\]
