Modernisation

The term modernisation was coined by Daniel Lerner. When one uses the term modernisation, it may be with reference to an individual or group, or even to society as a whole. There is often a tendency to think of modernisation in economic terms. However, along with the reference to economic life, modernisation can also be understood in terms of social life, technology, polity, culture, education and so forth. Modernisation has led to changes in values, beliefs and norms.
Example: Adoption of progressive thoughts and belief systems indicates modernisation.
