Sangham Period

The Sangham Period (6th century BCE to 3rd century CE) is the period of history of ancient peninsular India. It approximates the present-day Tamil Nadu and Kerala states. It is named after the famous Sangham academies of poets and scholars centred in the city of Madurai.
Example: Sangam literature which belongs to Sangham period is produced in three literary academies, in Madurai.
