प्रश्न
Give the classification of stoichiometric point defects.
उत्तर
The chemical formula of a compound shows fixed ratio of a number of atoms or the number of cations and anions. This fixed ratio is the stoichiometry of the compound.
In stoichiometric defect, the stoichiometry remains unchanged. In other words, the ratio of a number of atoms or number of cations and anions of compound remains the same as represented by its chemical formula.
There are four types of stoichiometric point defects:
- vacancy defect
- self interstitial defect
- Schottky defect and
- Frenkel defect
