If the lines 7y = ax + 4 and 2y = 3 − x, are parallel to each other, then the value of ‘a’ is:

पर्याय

  • - 1

  • `(-7)/2`

  • `(-2)/7`

  • 14

MCQ

उत्तर

`(-7)/2`

Explanation:

7y = ax + 4

⇒ y = `a/7x + 4/7`

∴ m1 = `a/7`

2y = 3 − x

⇒ `y = -x/2 + 3/2`

∴ m2 = `(-1)/2`

Here, the lines 7y = ax + 4 and 2y = 3 − x are parallel to each other.

∴ m= m2

⇒ `a/7 = (-1/2)`

⇒ a = `(-7)/2`
