- Adulteration in Milk (Water Adulteration)
- Materials Needed: Dropper, Glass of milk and Transparent glass plate
- Method: Put a drop of milk on the glass plate and tilt it.
- Observation: Pure milk leaves a white trail. Milk adulterated with water runs quickly without leaving a trail.
- Adulteration in Salt (Chalk Powder)
- Materials Needed: A small amount of salt, Water and Transparent glass
- Method: Dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a glass of water. Let it settle for a few minutes.
- Observation: If chalk powder is present, it will settle at the bottom
- Adulteration in Sugar (Washing Soda)
- Materials Needed: Sugar, Water and Lime juice or lemon
- Method: Dissolve a small amount of sugar in water. Add a few drops of lime juice.
- Observation: If it produces bubbles, washing soda is present.
- Adulteration in Turmeric Powder (Yellow Dye)
- Materials Needed: Turmeric powder, Warm water and Test tube
- Method: Mix a pinch of turmeric in warm water.
- Observation: Pure turmeric will not leave a yellow streak. If yellow dye is present, it will stain the container.
- Adulteration in Tea Leaves (Iron Fillings)
- Materials Needed: Tea leaves and Magnet
- Method: Spread tea leaves on a white paper and move a magnet over them.
- Observation: Iron fillings will stick to the magnet if present.
