उत्तर

  1. (a) 6913
    (b) 67 4190
  2. (a) The total number of grid squares in the area enclosed within Eastings 66 and 71 and Northings 15 and 19 is 20. The area of one grid square is 1 km × 1 km = 1 sq. km. Therefore, the area covered by 20 grid squares is 20 sq. km.
    (b) Hanumanji ka Mandir is in north-east direction from Gautam Maharishi Mandir.
  3. (a) 'Falls 15m' in grid square 6718 indicates waterfall located at a height of 15 metres. These Falls are formed in hilly areas due to sudden and almost vertical drops in the course of rivers.
    (b) Map distance 3.2 cm. Since scale is 2 cm = 1 km, the actual distance is 1.6 km.
  4. (a) Abu is a hilly area that gets its water supply from seasonal streams, wells and manmade lakes. This is because:
    (A) there are no perennial rivers and streams only seasonal streams;
    (B) there are perennial lined wells and Nakhi Talao (indicated by blue coloured conventional symbols).
    (b) The presence of large number of closely spaced contours indicate that the slope of the land is steep.
  5. (a) The broken black lines in grid square 6221 indicate broken ground. They are found in the arid or semi-arid regions, along the banks of seasonal rivers or streams as the soil is soft and sandy which cracks and breaks easily due to alternating dry and wet periods.
    (b) There are no settlements except Abu in the given map extract, as most of the area is forested with rocky knobs, lack of perennial streams and modes of transportation and job avenues.
